Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 27, 2026
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. What We Collect
Account information: Your name, email address, and authentication details when you sign up via Google or GitHub.
Your content: Novels, prose, summaries, reference material, and other files you create or upload in Composez. This data is stored to provide the service to you.
Usage data: Basic information about how you use the service, such as feature usage and error logs. This helps us improve Composez.
Payment information: Billing details are handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the service: Storing your projects, running AI features, and syncing with GitHub when you choose to connect.
- To improve our product: We may analyze usage patterns and content internally to improve Composez’s features, AI quality, and user experience. This analysis is done in aggregate or in anonymized form wherever possible.
- To communicate with you: Sending account-related emails such as billing receipts and important service updates.
3. What We Don’t Do
- Paid plan content stays with us. If you are on a Basic or Pro plan, your content may be used internally by Composez to improve our own AI features, but it is never shared with or sold to third parties for training or any other purpose.
- Free plan content may be shared in anonymized form. If you are on the Starter (free) plan, your content may be used internally by Composez and may be shared with partners in anonymized form to improve AI models and writing tools. Your content is never made public or attributed to you. You can opt out by upgrading to a paid plan.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate Composez:
- AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, and others) process your text when you use AI features. Content is sent to these providers to fulfill your requests and is subject to their respective data policies.
- Stripe handles payment processing.
- GitHub is used for repository sync when you choose to connect a project.
- Microsoft Azure hosts our infrastructure.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted in Microsoft Azure. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your projects and personal data. Some data may be retained in backups for a short period before being permanently removed.
7. Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data by exporting your projects at any time.
- Delete your data by deleting individual projects or your entire account.
- Contact us with any privacy questions or requests at support@composez.ai.
If you are in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability, rectification, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
